Crisis Intervention for Firefighters (4 or 8 Hour Training)

Recent high-profile events in the United States have brought some discredit to the well-meaning attempts of firefighters to help people in crisis. Officer Bruce Wind, Seattle PD Retired, recently conducted training for the Seattle Fire Department's High Angel Rescue Team & Technical Rescue Team.  First Responders routinely find themselves in front of suicidal people and people in the downward spiral of mental illness.

All first responders can benefit from the ability to control people in crisis through verbal skills & de-escalation techniques.

The goals of this block of instruction include;

·         Crisis Intervention Team Overview  - Police & Fire Management of the Mentally Ill in Crisis

·         Better Understanding of the Mental Health Commitment Process

·         Working Together - Police & Fire Must Play Nice Together

·         Use of Active Listening Skills to Gain Voluntary Compliance

·         Excited Delirium Overview & Danger to Firefighters

I invite you download my Crisis Intervention For Firefighters brochure and take a look at my web site, www.brucewind.com.

I am excited about sharing my 36-years of experience with your members.

Sincerely,
Bruce A. Wind
