Building on the success of the first-ever “Volunteer Firefighter Day” in Connecticut last April, the Everyday Hero CT volunteer firefighter recruitment campaign will hold its second annual statewide Volunteer Firefighter Day on Sunday, April 23, 2017. Your Department can participate in the event by holding an Open House that day from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Everyday Hero CT will provide everything necessary to promote the event in your community, on social media, and in the local media. All we need is your commitment to open your firehouse doors and have volunteers available to talk with folks who stop by. The registration deadline is March 17, 2017. A partnership of the Connecticut Fire Chiefs Association (CFCA) and the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC), the Everyday Hero CT campaign is a Volunteer Workforce Solutions (VWS) initiative designed to address the shortage of volunteer firefighters in Connecticut.
