Incident Safety Officer
The Fire Department Safety Officers’ Association (FDSOA) Incident Safety Officer course is a two-day academy that is based upon the 3rd Edition of Dave Dodson’s Incident Safety Officer and the 2015 NFPA Standards 1500, 1521, and 1561. The purpose is to provide attendees who expect to operate as safety officers the tools needed to be the most proficient. Topics will include reading smoke, reading buildings, reading firefighters, reading risk and reading hazards. The course will also prepare the students for the FDSOA certification examination. Those successfully completing the process will be issued a ProBoard certificate verifying competency to the 2015 NFPA standards.

Health & Safety Officer
The Fire Department Safety Officers’ Association (FDSOA) Health & Safety Officer (HSO) course is a two-day academy that is based upon the 4th Edition of James Angle’s Occupational Safety and Health in the Emergency Services and the 2015 NFPA Standards 1500, 1521, and 1561. The purpose is to provide attendees who expect to be responsible for the overall health and safety programs of a fire department the tools needed to be the most proficient. Topics will include risk management, relevant OSHA and NFPA standards, safety program development and management, and safety program evaluation. The course will also prepare the students for the FDSOA certification examination. Those successfully completing the process will be issued a ProBoard certificate verifying competency to the 2015 NFPA standards.
