The Office of State Fire Marshal (OSFM) Division of the Department of Oregon State Police is recruiting to fill a Deputy State Fire Marshal position. The Oregon State Fire Marshal is given the responsibility and accountability to utilize agency resources to develop, promote and maintain protection of life and property from fire, hazardous materials and other perils through leadership, direct action and coordination of Oregon’s Public Safety Resources. This non-sworn position is located in Salem, Oregon.
Minimum Qualifications are:
Five years of full-time fire service experience. This must include two years of full-time code enforcement and one year of fire cause investigation.
An Associate's degree in fire prevention, fire science or related fire service field may substitute for up to two years of the required experience, but will not substitute for the three years of code enforcement and fire cause investigation experience.
A Bachelor's degree in fire service administration or fire protection, fire science, or closely related fire service field may substitute for up to two years of the required experience, but will not substitute for the three years of code enforcement and fire cause investigation experience.
You must possess a valid ICC Fire Inspector II certification and a valid ICC Fire Plans Examiner certification or obtain one within 6 months of appointment. Applicants who already possess this certification must show proof of certification by attaching a photocopy with the application.
Note: Credit for part-time or volunteer fire service experience will be prorated based on a 40-hour workweek.
