FIRE CHIEF – ARCATA FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT
The Arcata Fire Protection District is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Fire Chief. The Fire Chief position is an excellent opportunity to lead a dynamic organization through a strategic planning process and shape the future of the Fire District. The District, located on the north coast of California, includes the City of Arcata and several unincorporated communities with a total population of 36,000 people. The District currently has 3 stations, 19 full-time employees and 35 volunteers responding to over 2200 calls per year. Minimum requirements: At least an AA or AS Degree, minimum of ten years of combined experience as a Chief Officer in an organized Fire Department. Valid, insurable California Class C Firefighter Endorsement DL at date of hire, CA EMT-I Certification within 6 months of hire and show progressive work toward fire service administrative management or equivalent. Desirable Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in fire science, public or business administration, CA Chief Officer Certification, significant experience in budget preparation, fiscal management and personnel regulations and fire district management. Salary and Benefits: $8229 to 10,002 per month, CALPERS 3% @ 55, Medical, Dental, Vision and Life Insurance, Annual Vacation and Holiday Leave.
