Salary Range: $82,200 - $ 88,200 D.O.Q.

The Fire District is currently recruiting to fill the position of Deputy Chief – Support Services. The Deputy Chief-Support Services is responsible for the management and administrative functions of the various operations within the District inclusive of, but not limited to; Human Resources, Health and Safety, Information Technology, Facilities and Apparatus, Public Education, and Public Relations.
This position is an exempt position and will serve as a chief officer of the District and will routinely be responsible for emergency scene management functions.
The District provides a full range of services to approximately 20,206 citizens in 110 square miles of beautiful urban, suburban and rural areas on the southern borders of the City of Spokane and the City of Spokane Valley. The area’s many lakes, rivers, streams, mountains, and entertainment venues provide for a wide range of recreational and cultural activities. The District personnel include: 32 career staff, approximately 60 volunteer staff, 14 temporary hourly employees, and a resident firefighter program with up to 12 personnel.
Minimum Qualifications
A minimum of either college level coursework or degree in fire science, fire administration, personnel management or business management and administration is highly desirable. Any combination of experience, education, and training that would provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities required to be successful in the position.
IFSAC Firefighter I certification or equivalent documented training and a minimum of five years of fire service and EMS experience in a similar or larger sized organization. Desire a minimum of three years at the level of Division Chief or higher in a full service fire agency.
Preferred Qualification
Background in human resources and contact negotiations with organized labor. Background in program and project management, fire service public education, prevention, and hazard assessment. Background and knowledge of information technology hardware and software.
