Reporting directly to the Travis County Commissioners Court, the County Executive for Emergency Services directs and administers County programs and services relating to the Office of Emergency Management, Emergency Medical Services, Fire Marshal’s Office, Technology and Communications, Medical Examiner’s Office, and general Emergency Services. This position works in a highly collaborative nature with other local government entities to ensure that Emergency Services are provided and coordinated throughout Travis County. Subject to confirmation by the Commissioners Court, the County Executive develops and interprets County Emergency Services Policy for elected and appointed officials, department heads, constituents, and other governmental agencies. The position manages eight direct reports and eighty two indirect reports. In addition, this position is responsible for oversight and coordination of a $24.8 million annual budget.
For consideration, candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Management, Public Administration, or a directly related field AND a minimum of eight years of progressively responsible management and leadership experience with Emergency Services Programs at the executive level of state and local government, or public sector management/administration, with at least five of those years in senior administrative levels of experience and supervision of managerial and professional work activities. Candidates must also have demonstrable management and budget administration experience. In addition, the candidate must have a valid Texas driver’s license or ability to obtain within three (3) months of hire.
