The Sacramento Regional Fire/EMS Communications Center (SRFECC) is the third largest fire communications center in California. Governed by a Joint Powers Authority (JPA) whose members represent the City of Sacramento, Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District, Cosumnes Community Services District, and City of Folsom, the Center provides fire protection and emergency medical services dispatching for nearly all of Sacramento County and parts of Placer County serving over 1.3 million residents and handling 160,000+ calls annually. The dispatch system is equipped with a PRC Cobol CAD System, Positron Power 911 phone systems, and an 800 megahertz region-wide radio system.
Reporting to the JPA Board, the Communications Center Manager serves as chief executive officer overseeing a current staff of 40 employees and a Communications Center budget of approximately $7.76 million. The ideal candidate is an experienced, well-rounded professional with direct knowledge and experience in emergency communications/dispatching for public safety, ideally in a similar-sized organization. Outstanding leadership and personnel management skills are essential; experience managing in a union environment is a plus. Candidates with strengths in finance/budgeting and general administrative practices/principals with a demonstrated track record of effective staff management and the political acumen to work effectively with the JPA Board will be favorably considered. A Bachelor’s degree and at least five years direct experience in a public emergency communications agency required; Master’s degree preferred.
