The City of Oxnard is seeking a progressive, innovative and well-rounded fire service administrator to be the City’s new Fire Chief. Oxnard is located in Ventura County on the idyllic Gold Coast of Southern California. This richly diverse community of approximately 200,000 people enjoys a beautiful climate, harbor, coastline and is close to multiple recreational facilities and excellent schools and universities. The Fire Chief oversees the Department’s $19 million budget and the day-to-day operations of 87 Sworn and 8 Civilian employees. The Fire Chief is appointed by the City Manager and is a key member of the City’s executive team.
Candidates are expected to have a combination of education & experience equivalent to BA degree from an accredited college or university, 8 years supervisory and management experience in fire suppression and prevention, management experience at the Captain level or above, and a valid California State Fire Marshall Certificate or completion of an equivalent state or federal agency program.
