This single-position safety classification is responsible for fire safety. Duties include directing the d a y - t o - d a y supervision of fire education, municipal code enforcement, or fire inspection staff, providing technical expertise related to fire code, engineering, plan check, and fire inspection and investigation techniques and procedures; supervising the plan checking of industrial, commercial, and multi-family residential structures, including Title 24 Regulations; performing the more difficult and complex fire related inspections.

The City has a Council-City Manager form of government with a full time equivalency (FTE) of 563, with up to 1,000 employees including part-time staff. South San Francisco is strategically located on the west shore of the San Francisco Bay, in northern San Mateo County, 10 miles south of San Francisco. The City is also located along the Bay Area’s main transportation routes, including highway 101, highway 280, Caltrain, San Francisco International Airport, and Bay Area Rapid Transit District commuter rail system. Salary range is $12,096—$14,705 / month, along with an excellent benefit package.
