Published: 2/19/2008
Author: Western Fire Chiefs Association

The International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) has asked that the Western Division provide three members to serve as volunteer peer evaluators for the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program (AFG) for a one-week period (one for each of the three one-week review periods).

The evaluations will take place at the National Emergency Training Center (NETC) in Emmitsburg, Maryland and are scheduled for the following weeks:

April 28 to May 2 – Evaluation Group 1

May 5 to May 9 – Evaluation Group 2

May 12 to May 16 – Evaluation Group 3

Individuals wishing to participate should have a broad knowledge in a variety of areas of the fire service and emergency medical service. Individuals volunteering to serve should plan on traveling the day before the evaluation period and returning home the afternoon of the last day of the evaluation period. Travel costs will be reimbursed by the USFA, and food and lodging will be provided at NETC. No salary is authorized for personnel volunteering to evaluate the Assistance to Firefighters Grant applications.

If you are interested in participating as a peer reviewer or know of someone willing to serve, please email the following contact information to us at wfca@wfca.com no later than February 20, 2008 so that we can make a recommendation to the IAFC. If selected, we will notify you at our earliest convenience so that arrangements can be coordinated. Please indicate your panel date preferences (1st, 2nd and 3rd choices).
