Chief John Sinclair, IAFC president and chairman of the board, is urging U.S. fire and emergency service leaders to write their senators asking them to cosponsor S. 829, legislation that would reauthorize the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) program (popularly known as the FIRE grant program), including the Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) program.

“These programs provide critical training, equipment and staffing for the nation’s fire and emergency service,” Chief Sinclair said. “We must make this point crystal clear to every U.S. Senator. They need to hear directly from the nation’s fire chiefs.”

The IAFC has suggested language available that fire chiefs can incorporate on department letterhead.
