The fire happened last month on St. Albans Street and firefighters had no idea what they were about to encounter. Flames burned a whole through the first floor and immediately collapsed when firefighters made their way through the front door. One firefighter fell through the floor but managed to spread his arms across the hole which kept him from falling into the basement below which was fully engulfed in flames. But, as he dangled just a few feet above the flames he received third degree burns on his legs and back.
