Pennsylvania: Man taken to hospital after ladder collapse during fire truck certification

PHOTO - Channel 11’s Melanie Gillespie has learned that one person was taken to a hospital Monday after an accident at the Clymer Volunteer Fire Department in Indiana County .Chopper 11 flew over the scene where a fire truck ladder got twisted, fell over and collapsed on a man standing on the ground, Gillespie reported. An official at the scene said the fire department was performing aerial testing when the ladder fell. The official also confirmed the individual who was hurt was not a firefighter. Clymer Volunteer Fire Department Chief Mike Aikens told Channel 11’s news partners at TribLIVE that the man was doing a fire truck certification test when a rigger that supports the truck broke around 2:35 p.m., causing the ladder to fall on the man.
