The FDNY will graduate one of the most diverse classes in its 150-year history Friday — and bring the number of women on the force to a record high. Four women will cross the stage at Queens College on Friday to become probationary members of the Bravest. When they do, the FDNY will have 49 female firefighters — more than it has ever had since the agency was formed in 1865. The same class also contains 52 black probies — making this one of the most diverse graduations in FDNY history. Probie Lisa Cusimano, 21, is the sister of two firefighters already on the job — and she trained with her brothers to make sure she got a spot in the firehouse. Salcedo was an electrician before deciding to pursue a career in the FDNY. “It wasn’t something I grew up thinking was possible,” Salcedo told the Daily News Thursday, moments after learning she would be assigned to Engine 24 in Manhattan. “I am so excited,” she said. Choeurlyne Doirin-Holder, 39, is a priority hire, one of nearly 300 black and Latino candidates who got a second chance at their dream job through a discrimination lawsuit brought by the Vulcan Society.
