A Hillsborough County Fire Rescue truck was involved in a deadly crash Tuesday afternoon, the Florida Highway Patrol said. According to troopers, the fire truck was responding around 2:30 to an unrelated car crash northbound on US 301 south of Franklin Road. A Lincoln MKZ sedan that was traveling southbound crossed over into the northbound lane, crashing into the fire truck for unknown reasons. The male driver of the Lincoln suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, FHP said. "It really is sad, and it's an unfortunate thing that happens out here, and it happens a little too often, I think," nearby resident April Bryan said. "It's fast and furious. It's a winding road. It's a log winding road in the woods, and people just want to go fast." The driver of the car hasn't been identified.
