On Tuesday around 11 p.m., a Mitchell County Sheriff’s Deputy was called out to report of a man waving a shot gun in the road.
The Deputy, called and asked Brandon Hale, Westbrook Fire Chief to keep an eye on the suspect from a distance until he got there. When the deputy had arrived the suspect had already made his way back to his residence, the deputy went to locate him.
While the deputy was at the house looking for the individual he made his way around the house and approached Brandon Hale in a car speaking to a witness.
The suspect approached Hale’s side of the car and stabbed the Fire chief multiple times, the witness in the car started honking the car horn to alert the deputy that Hale had been injured, and EMS was called. Hale was airlifted to UMC in Lubbock with serious injuries, he was taken into surgery and is said to be in satisfactory condition.
