A stopped train stopped emergency workers in their tracks in New Boston on Wednesday. The train was stopped for more than 20 minutes while firefighters from multiple agencies attempted to reach a burning home. The home in the Winding Creek neighborhood of New Boston was not occupied when the fire started and no one was injured at the time, but neighbors tell 7 Action News they are worried about next time. “It makes me mad, it makes me very scared, because what if my daughter gets hurt, what if my husband has a heart attack, what if one of my neighbors is sick and we call 911 and it’s 20 minutes, that could literally be life or death,” said neighbor Stephanie Layne. Residents used cell phones to shoot video and take pictures. They said it took firefighters nearly 20 minutes to arrive on the scene, because the train was stopped on the tracks, blocking all the access routes. Multiple agencies were called in, the home is considered a total loss.
