The Montezuma Fire Protection District commission, confirmed to be under investigation by the Solano County District Attorney’s Office for possible open meeting law violations, met Monday to appoint an acting fire chief but took no action. Joe Rosewall was fired July 26 as chief. He could not be reached for comment. Commission Chairwoman Jan Rogala announced after the special closed session that there was no report and the panel would meet again at 5 p.m. Thursday to continue the matter. Commissioner Joanna Myer was absent. Supervisor Skip Thomson has been accused of helping to orchestrate the chief’s dismissal by appointing a commissioner known to have a dispute with the chief, tipping the majority in favor of Rosewall’s termination. Thomson categorically denied he appointed Neil Anderson because the former firefighter had had a dispute with Rosewall and left the department because of it. “I appointed Neil because I know the family . . . and I thought it was an opportunity to get new blood on the commission,” said Thomson.
