One day after a fire chief resigns, amid controversy in his department, one of the firefighters is now on paid leave. Mark Blaquiere is under investigation by the town of Oxford. He declined to discuss the subject of that investigation. But he says he was handed a packet by Interim Town Manager Rebecca Lippencott, which he thinks has the reason why he’s been put on leave. However, he has refused to open it. He also said that the town took away his firefighting equipment. Blaquiere led the calls to have former Fire Chief Wayne Jones resign. He said that he thinks the town has been trying to sweep this under the rug.
