PHOTO - A 38-year-old man was killed and two more seriously injured when a construction crane toppled over and smashed into a busy Tribeca street Friday morning, officials said. The crane crashed into a row of parked cars when it toppled onto Worth St. near Church St. about 8:30 a.m. as heavy snow fell onto the city. One person died at the scene, officials said. A second person was trapped inside a vehicle and was freed by responding firefighters. Two other people were transported to Bellevue Hospital in serious condition. The crane smashed into the pavement right past the Sergeant’s Benevolent Association office. Two workers at the union office ran out and tried to free the man trapped in car and saw a second man dead under the crane. Initial reports said the victim was a pedestrian. He was not immediately identified. “He looked like a maintenance worker,” said SBA President Edward Mullins.
