The International Association of Fire Chiefs Foundation (IAFCF) has received a $10,000 grant from Emergent BioSolutions to provide 12 scholarships for qualified hazmat response professionals to attend the International Hazardous Materials Response Teams Conference, June 16-19 in Baltimore. The scholarships will provide a full conference registration and a $250 travel/housing stipend for each recipient.
“We thank Emergent BioSolutions for supporting the IAFC Foundation’s initiatives to train the next generation of first responders,” said Anthony P. Campisi, president of the IAFC Foundation and president/CEO of Glatfelter Insurance Group. “With the ever changing demands of hazmat response, it is imperative that our first responders have the skills and training necessary to protect their communities. This grant is a great step forward in making such training available.”
“Emergent is an advocate of building a healthier and safer world by protecting those who protect us and advancing our communities,” said Tracey Schmitt, vice president of public affairs and corporate responsibility. “We are pleased to have a positive impact on the IAFC’s program to train the next generation of first responders, whose service to our communities is invaluable and to whom we are very grateful.”
