A massive backyard party in Freetown that drew around 1,000 people prompted a local firefighter to rant on Facebook. Police broke up the bash and a few days later, the fire chief said, firefighter Kyle Grenier posted a racially charged message that said, "I can see the next fire call will be this house on fire and I'll make sure I can't find the hydrant lol. ...just make sure no water so no more house party's (sic) with black Boston people.
"I think it's crazy," party host Brandon Lochard said. "It's 2016 and racism still exists. It's just mind-blowing."
Lochard said the post is disappointing.
"I think his comments were insensitive and threatening," he said. "I didn't think it was a joke at all."
"I think he's sorry now, but it's too late," Freetown Fire Chief Gary Silvia said.
Silvia swiftly booted Grenier from the Fire Department when he saw the posts. Grenier was an on-call member for the past four years and received high praise from superiors.
