After months of controversy, the Valencia County fire chief has been fired.Steven Gonzales is facing charges of impersonating an officer and false imprisonment after he pulled over a person for driving erratically in Los Lunas. Authorities say that as fire chief, Gonzales had no authority to pull people over. A month before that incident, racy photos of Gonzales and two of his fire chiefs surfaced. The photos were taken while the men were supposed to be on a taxpayer-funded business trip. All three were temporarily placed on leave. "There's been a lot of public outcry," county manager Danny Monette told KOAT in May. Monette asked Gonzales to resign, but the now former chief refused.
