The town is mourning the death of firefighter/EMT Doug Clement, the son of a former fire chief. Clement, 44, died of an apparent heart attack, said Town Administrator Barbara Lucas. “It is with great sadness that the town of New Hampton announces the line-of-duty death of Firefighter/A-EMT Douglas Clement,” the town said in a news release. “Firefighter Clement was on-call for the New Hampton Fire Department after returning from rescue training Monday evening.” The fire department was called to his home at 5:24 a.m. Tuesday, the town said. Clement was taken to Speare Memorial Hospital in Plymouth, where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy performed Tuesday morning at Concord Hospital by the Medical Examiner’s Office determined Clement died of a heart attack. Clement was a member of the New Hampton Fire Department since 1997 and leaves behind four children.
