A man was arrested on a public intoxication charge after hitching an unauthorized ride on a Dallas Fire-Rescue truck early Monday. Firefighters were dispatched about 12:35 a.m. to an apartment complex at 8538 Park Lane to deal with a disturbance involving several people. When firefighters returned to their station about 12:50 a.m., they found a man sitting on a hose compartment on the engine, Dallas Fire-Rescue spokesman Jason Evans said. Evans said he doesn’t know how the man climbed into the top of the truck, or how he stayed there without falling off during the commute to the station. “Sounds like something you catch on an episode of Chicago Fire,” Evans said. Police were called to the station to arrest the man on a charge of public intoxication, a class C misdemeanor. His name has not been released.
