VIDEO - A young Tempe girl impressed firefighters recently, by remaining calm and aiding in her own rescue.
Malaysia Iwebema, a 4-year-old, found herself locked inside a bathroom with her 3-year-old cousin, RJ.
"It got jammed," she said of the lock.
"I got a hammer and tried to bang it, but it didn't work," she recalled, adding, "I wasn't that calm. I kind of started crying."
Tempe firefighters showed up to help.
Malaysia's family slid a phone through a crack in the door, and she was able to take a picture of the broken lock.
Firefighters slid a screwdriver into the bathroom and coaxed Malaysia on how to use it.
"I unscrewed those screws," she said, recalling a lesson from her dad.
"My dad told me it was righty-tighty, lefty-loosey," she said.
