The Disney-controlled Reedy Creek Improvement District has rejected a special magistrate's ruling siding with firefighters in a union dispute. Reedy Creek issued a 16-page letter rejecting the magistrate's decision to the Public Employees Relations Commission on Friday. The government agency said the magistrate, James Stokes, issued his decision four months after the deadline. Stokes could not be reached for comment. Reedy Creek said based on hearing dates and on Florida statutes, he should have issued a recommendation May 31. He finished it last month. The letter from James Brown and Aaron Zandy, outside attorneys representing the district, said "it is clear from his Recommendation that the Special Magistrate applied his own mistaken views of the bargaining process."
