Two Wilmington City Council members say if the city's Fire Department needs more funds to keep stations open, all it needs to do is ask. Council members Bob Williams, who has been a vocal supporter of the Fire Department, and Sherry Dorsey-Walker joined members of International Association of Fire Fighters Local 1590 on Tuesday afternoon across from Station 6 on North Union Street. The station serves as the only branch of the Wilmington Fire Department that will be affected by conditional company closures, the practice of putting a fire apparatus out of service when staffing levels are not met.
