City officials scrapped plans to raise the roof of the downtown Lebanon fire station to make room for its new $870,000 ladder truck. Lebanon bought the truck, but it doesn’t fit in either of its fire stations. The lone bid to raise the roof and renovate the downtown station came in at $680,000, more than double the projected $250,000. For now the new truck will be stationed in a bay at the electric department several blocks from the downtown station as the city seeks to design and construct a new bay for the truck at the station outside town. “We have to make these decisions now because of the circumstance we’re in,” Councilman Jeff Aylor said.
