Nampa Fire Dept. Chief Karl Malott is in serious condition after a crash on Interstate 84 near Sand Hollow Saturday afternoon. Idaho State Police say the Harley-Davidson motorcycle operated by Malott, 53, rear-ended a red sedan on the eastbound side of I-84. The impact threw Malott off of his motorcycle. No one in the car was injured. Malott was flown to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise. His condition was originally listed as critical, but was upgraded to serious on Sunday, according to a hospital spokesperson. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
