The city’s fire marshal testified Thursday that a 2014 report on dangers inside the Ghost Ship warehouse that a fire captain claims to have written has never been found and lawyers said they doubt it exists.
Fire Capt. George Freelen’s surprising testimony Tuesday, during the preliminary hearing of defendants Derick Almena and Max Harris, who have each been charged with 36 counts of involuntary manslaughter stemming from the deadly Dec. 2, 2016 fire at the warehouse.
Freelen said that after he visited the doomed art collective, he sent a report to the fire marshal’s office warning of its potentially disastrous conditions.
