Ron Savage, an anchor at Fox 2 News and on-call firefighter, died suddenly today after collapsing while training with the Milford Fire Department, said Fire Chief Thomas Moore. He was 63.
"Ron was a dedicated member of the Milford Fire Department since 2014 and this loss will truly be felt," Milford Fire Chief Thomas Moore said in a statement emailed to the Free Press. "Our thoughts and prayers go out to his wife Mitzi and son Ronald Jr. as well as to his Fox 2 family. Ron’s generosity and his dedication too many community causes touched many.
Rest in peace Ron Savage."
Moore said that "Savage collapsed shortly after performing a training evolution this morning and after extensive efforts has sadly passed away."
According to Fox 2 News, Savage, a Milford resident, "suffered a cardiac issue during training exercise."
