For most, a mid-life crisis consists of buying a sports car, or burying yourself in some expensive new hobby.
For Jeffrey Williams, his involved a change of career into the fire service.
And moving into the fire service presents some unique challenges for him, seeing as he was born with only one hand. “I just want people to look at me and think, ‘if he can do it, I can too,’ you know? What’s your excuse?” Williams said. “I go to sleep at night smiling.”
After doing a ridealong with a lifelong friend who works at Arizona City Fire Department, he decided that’s exactly what he wanted to do as well.
The department officially hired him in January, and he has been thriving at the station ever since.
