A longtime fire department volunteer and active community member will be remembered during a Line of Duty funeral service on Friday. David E. Carr, 62, a firefighter with the Brasher-Winthrop Fire Department, passed away Saturday morning after returning home from a massive fire at Curran Renewable Energy, 26 Trade Drive. Randy Thayer, president of the Brasher-Winthrop Fire Department, described Mr. Carr as a quiet man who showed a deep commitment to his department and community. “Every call that went out, he was one of those guys we always depended on and he has always been there,” Mr. Thayer said Monday morning.
