There were challenges getting water Saturday morning to a trailer fire that killed one and injured a firefighter in a mobile home park off McDevitt Avenue in Summit Township. Firefighters tried four hydrants within the park, which maintains its own system, and they were broken or disabled, township fire Acting Lt. B.J. Warner said. Tanker trucks had to haul water from what was AMF Summit Lanes, now closed, across the street from the Cozy Manufactured Home Community, 1249 E. McDevitt Ave. The water trouble did not make a difference in saving the lone resident, a 66-year-old man who lived at 1246 Connie Ave. A crew of township firefighters pulled the man from the home within minutes of their arrival, after 5 a.m. March 31, Warner said. He later died at Henry Ford Allegiance Health.
