Six years have passed since a gunman set fire to his Webster home and ambushed first responders as they arrived on scene. Michael Chiapperini, 43, and Tomasz Kaczowka, 19, were killed that morning as they stepped out of their vehicles on Lake Road, in an otherwise quiet neighborhood along the Lake Ontario shoreline. Although time has passed since the tragic events of Christmas Eve 2012, and the neighborhood has changed, it has not erased the stain of what occurred on that chilly December morning. The incident began in the early morning hours of Dec. 24, 2012, with volunteers from the West Webster fire department responding to the report of a fire on Lake Road.
