Area dive teams put in hours of training in a variety of underwater scenarios – strong currents, zero visibility, extreme depths, overhead obstacles and ice – to ensure that they’re prepared for the scenes they will face. Several of those teams responded to recent calls in Cambria and Somerset counties – incidents that involved searches that lasted days and ended with the recovery of deceased individuals at Glendale Lake in Prince Gallitzin Park and at the Quemahoning Reservoir. The Murrysville MedicOne Dive team responded to both calls, according to Director Darrick Gerano. The team formed in 2012 after Murrysville MedicOne employees suggested a scuba diving class that created interest in a dive team. “We kind of grew from there,” Gerano said.
