The city of Spokane will discipline five firefighters after concluding its investigation into allegations of harassment and bullying at Spokane Fire Department Station 2. In a joint statement released Tuesday, the firefighters union and city officials said they were “committed to a workplace free from harassment, discrimination, or retaliation of any kind” and they “firmly believe in treating everyone with dignity, respect, and professionalism.” Union President Randy Marler said the city would be disciplining five department employees. The decision comes weeks after the city conducted hearings in June. Disciplinary action will range from written reprimands to two firefighters being suspended for 48 hours without pay, Marler said.
