Gov. Chris Sununu is expected to nominate Salem's fire Chief Paul Parisi to the role of state fire marshal on Tuesday.
“Chief Parisi has had a long and distinguished career protecting the people of Salem, and I am excited to have him lead the team over at the Division of Fire Safety,” Sununu in a statement on June 5. “Chief Parisi brings a unique perspective to the state fire marshal’s office, and I have no doubt that he will work to ensure that New Hampshire continues to be the best state for business in the many years ahead.”
Parisi would replace Bill Degnan, who had held the fire marshal position since 2004 before retiring recently.
The governor's Executive Council is expected to vote on the nomination on June 20. If approved as state fire marshal, Parisi would step down leave the Salem Fire Department, in which he has served for nearly three decades.
