A firefighter recruit was injured after falling from a building at a New Haven training academy on Thursday. A New Haven Fire Department lieutenant confirmed to News 8 that a recruit from the Providence Fire Department Training Academy fell from a building while training at the New Haven Regional Fire Training Academy at 230 Ella T. Grasso Blvd. Providence officials have identified the firefighter recruit as Richard Rand. According to spokeswoman, the recruit's injuries are non-life threatening but sources say that he does have several broken bones and has been taken to Yale New Haven Hospital.
