Longtime rescue volunteer and current North Beach Volunteer Fire Department rescue captain Patricia Ann “Pat” Osburn died Saturday morning in the line of duty, the department reports. Osburn experienced a medical emergency while performing her duties as an emergency medical technician and was found unresponsive upon arrival at CalvertHealth Medical Center. After resuscitative efforts failed, she was pronounced dead at 6:49 a.m., Fire Chief Joey R. Keller posted on the department’s Facebook page. According to a Facebook post by Calvert County Sheriff Mike Evans (R), Osburn was in the back of an ambulance transporting a patient to the hospital and was on the radio consulting with the hospital about the patient. She ended the call with the hospital while near Bowie Shop Road in Huntingtown. When the ambulance arrived at the hospital, ambulance driver Ryan Lockrow reportedly found Osburn motionless in the rear seat of the ambulance.
