The downsizing of government in the city of Youngstown began Thursday with cuts in the fire department. There will likely be more to come, one city official told us the police department and clerk of courts may be next. But Thursday the focus is on the fire department. "We all have to tighten our belt to be more fiscally responsible with the cities money," Youngstown Fire Chief Barry Finley said. Thursday evening outside of Youngstown's main fire station downtown, Chief Finley explained the cuts being made to his department. "And came up with a plan that we would shut down a truck and reduce some personnel in rank trying to save money," Finley said. The reduction in rank will affect nine firefighters total: three captains who will drop to lieutenants and six lieutenants who will drop to firefighters. The elimination of one truck will mean some moving around.
