It was a wild scene last Friday night: two fire trucks that crashed into each other on their way to a fire in the District. Eight firefighters onboard the trucks received non-life-threatening injuries. The accident at the corner of 15th and K streets took place as crews rushed to the scene of an apartment fire on nearby L Street. By Saturday, DC Fire & EMS said all eight firefighters had been released from the hospital. They are expected to be okay. On Monday, neighbors in Southeast were still talking about the crash. Most told ABC 7 they’re grateful that no one was seriously hurt, especially since children often play in the area where the crash took place. One of the trucks jumped a curb, took down a street lamp and damaged a fence and brick wall in someone’s front yard.
