A house fire just before noon Wednesday destroyed a two-story Houston home and displaced a couple and their two children. The home, on Prator Lake, was already fully involved when Houston Fire Department units arrived about four minutes after the call came in, according to fire Capt. Christian Hartley. The two adults were at work and two children at school at the time, Hartley said. A German shepherd died in the fire. About 40 firefighters from Houston, West Lakes, Central Mat-Su and Willow responded to the fire, Hartley said. One was transported as a precaution by ambulance to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center to be checked for smoke inhalation, he said. The fire is under investigation but is not considered suspicious, he said.
