One person escaped a fire at a single-story Wasilla home which destroyed the structure Wednesday morning.
The fire on the 8000 block of Swan Drive was reported shortly before 8 a.m. according to Ken Barkley, the Mat-Su Borough’s deputy director of emergency services. The woman who escaped the fire did so through a window, he said.
“It was 90 percent involved when it was called in,” Barkley said.
The fire was brought under control at about 8:30 a.m., Barkley said. Fire crews spent hours searching the 30-by-50-foot home, which was a total loss in the fire, but didn’t find any sign that anyone else was in the residence.
