A Chugiak Fire and Rescue truck is suffering damages worth hundreds of thousands of dollars after a vehicle rammed into it on the Glenn Highway Sunday morning. The Chugiak Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company says Engine 31 was struck by a vehicle while responding to another motor vehicle accident just before 10:30 a.m. The truck was taking a blocking position on the highway to protect crews from oncoming traffic at the time of the incident. Officials say the crew was not injured and continued to provide care and assistance. The collision caused the loss of the frontline piece of fire apparatus which they say will take up to 12 months to build a replacement.
