A Coast Guard Station Juneau small boat crew and two Capital City Fire/Rescue EMTs transported a woman experiencing breathing complications from the cruise ship Regatta, near Juneau, Tuesday. The station's 45-foot Response Boat-Medium crew transported the woman to awaiting emergency personnel in Juneau. Coast Guard Sector Juneau watchstanders received a report from the crew of the Regatta, a 592-foot cruise ship, that the woman was experiencing breathing complications. Watchstanders consulted the duty flight surgeon and directed the launch of the station's RB-M. “It was great to partner with Capital City Fire/Rescue for this case," said Petty Officer 2nd Class Nancy Emery, a crew member aboard the response boat. "Taking EMTs with us allowed us to provide the woman with care during transit and work quickly to transport her to the ambulance."
