One firefighter sustained non life-threatening injuries while fighting a fire at a Duplex on Dawn Street in Eagle River early Tuesday morning. According to the Anchorage Fire Department, a call came in at 3:33 a.m. that the back deck of the residential building was on fire. The first crews arrived four minutes later and found “a working structure fire” with flames coming from the attic. AFD said 16 units responded to the blaze, which was “knocked down” by 4:12 a.m. and under control five minutes later. The Red Cross was called to help three people put out by the fire. The injured firefighter was taken to a local hospital in stable condition for further evaluation. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
