The Muscular Dystrophy Assn.'s Fill the Boot campaign has returned to Southcentral Alaska, with fundraising events in Anchorage and Soldotna.
Rain or shine, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., the Anchorage Fire Dept. Local 1264, along with Girdwood, Eagle River and Anchorage Airport Fire, will be "filling the boots" across Anchorage on Friday.
Central Emergency Services will do the same on both Friday, Sept. 1, and Saturday, Sept. 2, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Soldotna Fred Meyer parking lot.
Donations will go toward the MDA, a non-profit agency dedicated to curing muscular dystrophy, ALS and related disease by funding worldwide research.
The group also supports local events right here in Alaska.
Officials are asking that people be extra cautious while driving during the fundraising time period as teams will be out and about gathering spare change, dollar bills and even personal checks.
